Collision Damage: Collision damage refers to the physical damage suffered by a vehicle when it violently comes into contact with another vehicle, a stationary object (such as a pole, barrier, or tree), or any other obstacle. This type of damage can include elements such as damaged bodywork, broken windows, cracked headlights and taillights, a deformed chassis, as well as mechanical or electrical issues affecting the radiator, engine, or braking system.
Deductible: The $1000 deductible for Centre Automobile du Québec's road coverage means that in the event of a claim covered by this insurance, the policyholder must pay the first $1000 of the repair or replacement costs for their damaged vehicle. This amount is a fixed deductible specified in the insurance policy.
Vehicle theft: Centre Automobile du Québec's road coverage may include protection against vehicle theft, subject to the specific terms of the insurance policy.
Exclusions
Personal items: Personal belongings such as phones, laptops, handbags, or other items that are stolen or damaged in your vehicle will not be covered by your standard car insurance.
Trailers: Road coverage does not include protection for trailers. This means that if you have a trailer attached to your insured vehicle and it gets damaged or stolen, it will not be covered by road coverage.
Loss of use: Road coverage does not cover loss of use, meaning it does not reimburse costs associated with the inability to use your vehicle for a period of time, even if it is temporarily out of service due to an accident, theft, or other covered incidents. In other words, if your car is damaged and needs repairs, you cannot claim reimbursement for inconvenience or disruption caused by its unavailability for daily commuting or leisure.
Body injury: It's important to note that road coverage does not cover bodily injuries, mutilations, or any other bodily harm suffered by drivers, passengers, or any other individuals involved in a road accident.
Criminal act or illegal trade: Road coverage does not cover damages or losses resulting from criminal acts or illegal behaviors. This means that if your vehicle is involved in criminal activity, such as using it to commit a crime or transport illegal goods, you will not receive any compensation.
Intentional acts: Road coverage does not cover damages intentionally caused by the insured or by a third party. This means that if intentional acts lead to damage to your vehicle or to others, road insurance will not cover repair costs or associated compensations.
War, insurrection, or terrorism: Road coverage specifically excludes certain events such as war, insurrection, and terrorism. If your vehicle is damaged during armed conflict, whether declared or not, insurance will not cover it. Similarly, civil unrest, rebellions, or insurrections are not covered, as they are considered extraordinary situations beyond ordinary control. Acts of terrorism, as defined by competent authorities, are also not covered, including damages directly caused by terrorist acts on the vehicle or related to terrorist events.
Off-Road Driving: Road coverage does not cover incidents that occur during off-road driving. This means that if an insured vehicle is involved in an accident or sustains damage while being used off designated public roads or paths, insurance will not pay for repairs or associated losses.
Confiscation: Road coverage does not include protection against confiscation by public or governmental authorities. If your rental vehicle is seized or confiscated by a government authority for any reason, such as local law violations or legal seizures, road coverage will not reimburse you for the loss of the vehicle or the costs associated with its recovery.
Fuel: Road coverage does not cover damages caused by using the wrong type of fuel in a vehicle. Using the wrong type of fuel is considered a user error and not an accidental or external event covered by road insurance.
Reckless Driving: Road coverage does not cover damages or incidents that occur when a vehicle is driven at a speed exceeding the legal limit. This means that if a driver is involved in an accident while exceeding the speed limit, vehicle damages and bodily injuries will not be covered by road insurance.
Mechanical breakdown: Road coverage does not cover vehicle breakdowns or mechanical failures. This refers to internal vehicle issues that occur without direct collision or external damage. For example, engine failure, transmission issues, or other mechanical component failures are not covered.
Insect infestation: Road coverage does not cover damages caused by insect or vermin infestations. If your vehicle is damaged by insects (such as termites, ants, wasps) or rodents (such as mice, rats), this situation would not be considered a claim covered by road insurance.
Intoxication: Road coverage does not cover incidents related to intoxication, whether by alcohol, drugs, or any other substance. If a driver is involved in an accident while under the influence of an intoxicating substance, damages to property, bodily injuries, and other consequences may not be covered by road insurance.
Key loss: Road coverage does not cover the loss of vehicle keys. If you lose the keys to your insured car, Centre Automobile du Québec will not reimburse you for key replacement or any costs associated with gaining access to or unlocking the vehicle.
Other drivers: Road coverage only covers drivers explicitly named in the contract. This means that if someone drives the insured vehicle and is not specifically listed in the contract, they will not be covered in case of an accident or claim.
